This can be an exciting time to create new friendships and interests and with the internet there are so many options now!
You might start by considering what your interests and passions are and then pursue those activities. It's a great way to connect with people who share your common interest. How about taking a class or checking out a Meetup group- https://www.meetup.com/ ? Joining a gym is always fun and the physical activity as well as the camaraderie can be just what your looking for!
It's likely you'll have more time now to pursue your interests, so enjoy and take that first step to get out there and make new connections!
I had the same problem and it took me a few years to figure it out. There are many social groups to get involved in for single people - golf, Christians, dance classes, etc. I have had my best luck meeting people at country dance clubs, but I created a whole new circle of social friends by joining Events & Adventures. Over the past two years I have done so many fun events (activities I would never have done on my own) and have meet a bunch of wonderful people. Don't give up - get yourself out there!
