Can't get him to leave!

I've asked my husband to move out..things are not good and this marriage is going nowhere! I want to stay in my home with the kids during the separation until things are worked out but he won't leave - he refuses. What can I do? What are my rights??

Hey Dorothy~

So glad you asked us this question because this is a big one and you want to be sure you are doing everything to protect your rights.

To find out what your legal rights are and if you can get him out of the house you need legal advice. Ask friends, family or business associates for a referral to a good family law attorney. You can also watch our 2 short videos on how to interview a prospective legal advisor. Scroll down on this page https://www.wildflowergroup.net/blogand you'll see 2 conversations with an attorney who offers solid advice.

Regarding your home, speak with a Realtor to find out your home's value and your legal position to stay there. A loan originator can guide you through the process to qualify for a mortgage in order to take ownership. You might also consider some other options for keeping a roof over your head, and the Realtor and loan originator can walk you through what those would be.

Consult with all these professionals before doing anything so you know you are making a really informed decision and you fully understand your financial position and legal rights.
